Opening Up The Roof Space

You know what it’s like when you move house; it looks perfect on rightmove, you get that “feeling” when you walk through the door on that first viewing, after months of chasing solicitors all your dreams come true when you get the keys and its finally yours. Then you move in, decide to put your “stamp” on it, do a few cosmetic tweaks. And then the walls fall down, your handyman finds that it needs a full re-wire and that whoever plumbed it last was probably no more qualified than your Tibetian Terrier. No? Just us? Let’s not digress…

Our latest #BBHBProject was very-much on these lines. Let’s call our customer Ms Open Roof-space. Having just moved into her new home, she was keen to make some changes to it to make it feel like home. A small and cramped-feeling bathroom with a low ceiling did nothing to help create an oasis of calm, and she was keen to get it sorted almost from the moment she got the keys.

Georgina discussed the options available, and showed Ms Open Roof-space some of the new products we have, from our very latest supplier partners BC and The London Basin Company. Our customer wanted pieces from different ranges to create an overall look of continuity, so going with a Navy theme Georgina ensured that individual look was created

The BC Boat Bath, which can be supplied in three sizes and painted to order, was painted in a navy by the supplier. The London Basin Company “Loreili” sink, built onto an oat platform with industrial-style cast-iron legs created a modern edge, with the Royal Blue Oriental pattern the navy colour palate of the room was continued. By having wall-mounted taps, there is no compromise on the sink-space and the look is fresh but classic.

The roof-space was opened up to reveal original ceiling beams and to enable the shower space to feel airy; the previous shower cubicle felt small and claustrophobic. The vaulted ceiling suddenly transformed the space to a bathroom worthy of a 5-star hotel.

We have a team of trusted fitters; we only recommend people we would be happy to have in our home. It’s a funny thing, having Trades People in your home. You trust that they know their stuff, leave them your keys or sit in whilst they do the work, and you don’t know them from Adam. We always recommend fitters who are friendly, approachable, professional and obsessed with detail. We think of it this way; no-one ever complained about having a trades person who is a perfectionist in their home. Ms Open Roof-space felt this way about Andy and his team at AJF Solutions; happy to have them in her home, she felt comfortable with the project and assured that they would only leave the project when she was 100% happy with the design and finish.

We think the pictures speak for themselves, but it’s so nice to have some feedback too. We’ll leave the last word to Ms Open Roof-space…

“I gave Georgina a wide brief for my project, having three bathrooms to do in total. All three are very different; from a classic Crapper through to a designer en-suite and a very individual master bathroom; the team came up trumps. I love using all three and feel very privileged to have them installed in my home. I really feel that the results reflect my imagination.”
